Acer japonicum (Fullmoon Maple)

This small, deciduous tree is native to Japan and southern Korea. It has been in the ornamental trade in Australia since 1898,  and there is no evidence that it has naturalised. There is also no evidence that the species has naturalised, or become invasive, elsewhere. Fullmoon Maple reproduces exclusively via seed, which is wind dispersed. A closely related species, Acer negundo, is a declared plant in the ACT and SA, and is also a weed of concern in VIC.
