Acca sellowiana (Pineapple Guava, Feijoa)

(Feijoa sellowiana)

This small evergreen fruiting tree to 3m tall is native to Southern Brazil. It produces green-skinned fruit with a sweet, aromatic flavour, which taste like pineapple, apple and mint. As a tree, it has attractive leathery green leaves with silvery undersides and pinky-white flowers with large red stamens. Pineapple Guava is widely cultivated around the world, but there is no evidence that it is invasive anywhere. The fruit can be host to Qld Fruit Fly.
