Abelia chinensis (Chinese Abelia)

Abelia chinensis is an exotic shrub native to southern China. It has been in the Australian plant trade for more than 150 years and has not become naturalised in Australia. There is no evidence of invasive behaviour for this species anywhere in the world. It reproduces via seeds. Together with Abelia uniflora they are the parents of the hybrid Abelia x grandiflora, highly cultivated in Australia.
