Lower Risk
Liriope muscari ‘Samantha’ (Lilyturf, Lily Turf)
This exotic cultivar is an evergreen perennial grass-like herb with pink flowers and a clumping habit. The parent species Liriope muscari grows in all areas of Australia except for the tropics, and has a low risk of invasiveness. However, overseas it is invasive to North America and considered a threat to native wildlife. ‘Samantha’ is conditionally accepted as its parent is low risk but there is mixed certainty about it’s stability as a cultivar. Liriope muscari ‘Samantha’ flowers from early summer until autumn. It produces single-seeded berries. The cultivar does not reproduce via rhizomes.
