Lavandula stoechas ‘Avonview’
This exotic cultivar native to the Mediterranean is a compact evergreen shrub with grey-green leaves and striking purple flowers, both aromatic. It reaches a maximum height of 0.8m. The parent species is a listed weed in VIC and WA. However, this, and other cultivars, were bred to not produce viable seeds. Therefore ‘Avonview’ does not have the same invasive characteristics as the parents. ‘Avonview’ has green-grey foliage and deep purple flowers. It is an ideal planting for cottage gardens.
