Lagerstroemia indica x L. fauriei ‘Natchez’ (Lagerstroemia 'Natchez'; Crape Myrtle; Crepe Myrtle (White))
This exotic cultivar is part of the ‘Indian Summer’ range (L. indica x L. fauriei) developed by the National Arboretum in Washington, D.C. Each cultivar has the name of an American tribe. ‘Natchez’ is a cultivar with white flowers that can reach a maximum height of 6m. Lagerstroemia indica was rejected by the PlantSure tool due to having an aggressive root system and being a prolific seeder, having naturalised in Australia and being invasive overseas. While Lagerstroemia fauriei was accepted by the PlantSure tool. One source claims this cultivar has very low or no invasive potential. However, the cultivars were not bred to differ from their parents so may retain some of the invasive characteristics. These cultivars were developed to resist powder mildew.
