Chamaecyparis obtusa (Hinoki Cypress)

Chamaecyparis obtusa (Hinoki Cypress) is an evergreen coniferous tree that grows to 40m. It is native to southern Japan and Taiwan. It has been in trade in Australia since 1851 and has not naturalised. It is cultivated in several countries as a timber tree. It is not recorded as invasive anywhere in the world. Hinoki reproduces by seed.
