Syzygium anisatum (Aniseed Myrtle, Ringwood)

(Backhousia anisata, Anetholia anisata)

Syzygium anisatum (Aniseed Myrtle) is a perennial tree with wavy yellow-green leaves that have a mild aniseed fragrance when crushed. It can be grown as a shrub with regular pruning. It is native to rainforests along streams and lower slopes in northern NSW. It reproduces via seed. Aniseed Myrtle has been in trade since 1957. There is no record of it naturalising outside its native range, or becoming invasive anywhere.
