Spathiphyllum wallisii (Peace Lily)

Spathiphyllum wallisii (Peace Lily) is a perennial herb, native to wet tropical areas of South America. It has large glossy green leaves and white spathe flowers. It is popular as an indoor plant but can also be grown outside. It is a very popular house and garden plant but time in trade in Australia is unknown. There is no evidence that it has naturalised in Australia or become invasive anywhere in the world. The species’ native and introduced range has some similarity with tropical northern Australia (Qld, NT and WA) so this plant could become naturalised in these areas if the climate becomes hotter and wetter. Peace Lily spreads slowly by offsets. Viable seed may require presence of a specialised pollinator.
