Pieris japonica (Japanese Andromeda, Japanese Pieris)

Pieris japonica (Japanese Pieris) is an evergreen shrub or small tree widely grown in shaded gardens. It has sprays of pale to dark pink, delicate, urn shaped flowers. It is native to China, Taiwan and Japan. Japanese Pieris has been in trade in Australia since 1904 and has not become naturalised in that time. there is no record that it is invasive anywhere in the world. All parts of the plant are toxic. There are several popular cultivars.
