Ophiopogon japonicus (Mondo Grass, Dwarf Lily Turf)

Ophiopogon japonicus (Mondo Grass, Dwarf Lily Turf) is an evergreen perennial, grass-like groundcover. It has soft dark green leaves growing 20-40cm long. There are several cultivars of different sizes and leaf colours. Flowers are small and white to pale lilac. The plant has underground stolons and tubers which may be medicinal. Reproduction is via stolons and seed. There is no evidence that Mondo Grass has naturalised in Australia. There is some evidence that this plant has naturalised in other countries with a similar climate such as southern states of USA.
